Community Forum: Over 200 Residents Attend Bayside Town Hall

2 August 2026

More than 200 Bayside residents gathered at the Hampton Community Centre for Sarah Mitchell's second community forum, with housing, transport, and local schools topping the agenda.

More than 200 Bayside residents packed into the Hampton Community Centre last Tuesday for Sarah Mitchell's second community forum of the campaign — one of the largest turnouts the venue has seen for a local political event.

The two-hour session covered a wide range of local issues, with housing affordability, public transport, and school funding emerging as the three issues most frequently raised by residents in attendance.

"People are worried about being priced out of the community they've lived in for years," said Sarah. "Young families can't afford to stay, and renters are living in fear of no-fault evictions. This is a crisis and it needs urgent attention in state parliament."

Sarah also took questions on coastal management, the proposed Sandringham Road works, and the future of the Hampton Community Health Centre, which is facing potential funding cuts. The forum was recorded and is available in full on Sarah's campaign website.
